New Year, New Challenge: B3 All In

Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s 2017? I know I’ve been on a longer-than-expected hiatus, but I’m back! Last year, I traveled a ton, started this blog, and made up for lost time with family and friends. There were several other changes in 2016 (both great changes and not so great), and now I’m ready to take on the new year.

One of my goals this year is to share more of my food finds and kitchen messes with you all. I hope you’re ready!

Speaking of goals…I have a pretty big one to share with you. I am signed up for B3 ALL IN! What’s that? It’s a program through Barre3 in which we’ll follow a meal plan, do five workouts (barre classes) per week, and build our mind-body connection. I took my very first barre3 class in 2015 and fell in love instantly! I took classes off and on for several months (when I could afford it). Then my dreams came true when a studio opened in Ballard this past July! I signed up for a membership and my journey since then has been so much fun.

B3 ALL IN is going to be one of the ways for me reset and to kick off a healthier and stronger lifestyle. The meal plan is pretty basic and common sense:

  • Gluten
  • Dairy
  • Refined sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Coffee

Yes to:

  • Vegetables
  • Fruit
  • Sustainably raised meats
  • Whole grains
  • Wild-caught fish
  • Nuts and legumes

And of course eliminating artificial foods, chemical additives, and trans fat.

I know right…no alcohol?! I love wine. The important thing to remember about this challenge and barre3 is to always make it your own. I am always modifying during the class depending on how my body feels each day. My knees, wrists, and lower back act up from time to time. So I might have a “treat yo self” day or five.

B3 ALL IN is starts on January 9 (tomorrow!) and goes until February 5. My goal is not to lose weight or “get fit.” Rather, I intend to feel stronger and more energized. And I really want to cut out several (processed) foods from my life forever.  I will certainly keep you all updated on my progress, and I will also share photos of the things I’m eating/drinking this month via Instagram. Follow #b3allin on social media to see all of the barre3 community’s journey.

What are your new year’s goals and intentions this year? Share them in the comments!
